Chief Executive Officers - Nottingham Diocese Multi-Academy Trusts

Salary: £Competitive to attract the right applicants
Location: Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire
Contract Type: Full Time
Contract Term: Permanent
Start Date: September 2018

The Diocese of Nottingham is rolling out a pioneering educational plan that will protect and develop the Catholic identity and mission of its schools by ensuring each school is part of a large diocesan Multi-Academy Trust opening in September 2018.

All 84 primary and secondary diocesan schools will join one of four Catholic Multi-Academy Trusts within the following geographical areas:

  • St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi-Academy Trust – covering Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Stockport;
  • St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Multi-Academy Trust – covering Leicestershire;
  • St Thérèse of Lisieux Catholic Multi-Academy Trust – covering Lincolnshire (including Rutland);
  • Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Multi-Academy Trust covering Nottinghamshire.

We are seeking four Chief Executive Officers to play a key role in leading and shaping an outstanding Catholic education within their Trust and the diocese as a whole.

A practising Catholic with demonstrable experience of successful system leadership/school improvement across more than one school leading to rapid and sustained improvement is essential.

Now is a moment of real opportunity, which makes these posts an extremely attractive and rewarding career opportunity.

The closing date for applications: Midnight Sunday 3 December, 2017

"We have been working with Emmaus Leadership on a number of hard to fill leadership vacancies across the Diocese. All of our dealings have been extremely professional and the feedback from schools has been very positive. It has been somewhat refreshing to deal with a recruitment company that have a good understanding of the Catholic sector, the workings of a Diocese and the requirements of Foundation Governors in appointing senior leaders to our schools. Our experience of Emmaus Leadership has been very positive and I fully recommend their services."

Stephen Bryan, Former Interim Director of Education - Archdiocese of Southwark

"Thank you for all your support, advice and professionalism through out the long and complex process of our Head’s appointment. Having helped us appoint first time round it was unfortunate, due to personal circumstances, that our new Head had to subsequently withdraw post appointment. We were truly grateful for your service guarantee, which meant we incurred no further costs in appointing her replacement. Your unfailing support and advice at all times was greatly appreciated."

Nicholas van As, Chair of Personnel Committee - Coulsdon CE Primary School

"Could we afford it? My belief, as Chair was that we couldn’t afford not to. Our pupils deserved and needed strong school leaders to be found and drawn to apply. Our success was down to using Emmaus and definitely money well spent."

Carry Lynott - Chair of Governors, Our Lady and St Brendan's Catholic Primary School, Bradford

"Emmaus brings a level of professionalism, seen in other industry sectors, to church schools’ recruitment."

The Rt Rev Nick Baines - Anglican Bishop of Leeds

"I have personal experience of the quality of service Emmaus provides, when I successfully applied for a Headship position through them. I always felt I could call up, get the ‘inside take’ on the school and ask any questions in complete confidence. The support and expert advice I received made the application process far less daunting and I would thoroughly recommend Emmaus to any Church School looking to appoint a key Leadership position."

Dan Pickard, Headteacher, The Bishop’s CE Primary School - Thetford

"I have no hesitation in commending Emmaus to any school that is seeking to appoint a Christian Headteacher. In particular, Emmaus’ ability to promote the school, assess the ethos of the school and communicate this within the networks of those who might be considered as possible candidates was invaluable."

Clive Purser, Chair of Governors, St Andrew's CE High School for Boys, Worthing

"I have no hesitation in commending Emmaus to any school which is seeking to appoint a Christian Head. My only regret is that we did not go to them for the first round of interviews that proved unsuccessful. It is an expensive option, but in the long run they are more than value for money. I am very thankful to God for the ministry of Emmaus, and I warmly commend them to you. In OFSTED terms, they are outstanding."

The Rt Rev Keith Sinclair - Anglican Bishop of Birkenhead

"Having previously struggled to recruit two Headteachers - for both a Primary and a Secondary school - Emmaus came to the rescue. Their expert advice and deep understanding of recruiting Headship positions in Catholic schools is invaluable, and I have no hesitation in recommending their knowhow and their values."

Fr David Gibbons, Chair of Governors & Parish Priest, Archdiocese of Southwark

"…we also considered other external recruiters, but Emmaus were clear favourites in terms of their recruitment expertise and in-depth knowledge and appreciation of the catholic school’s sector."

Peter Giorgio, Director of Education, Nottingham Diocese

"We are delighted with the appointment we made and I have reported to the whole community that we could not have been more thorough in the search or more rigorous in the selection process. Thank you Emmaus Leadership."

Jacqui Feely, Chair at All Hallows Catholic College, Macclesfield
