Headteacher

Salary: £Competitive to attract the right candidate
Location: Worthing, West Sussex
Contract Type: Full Time
Contract Term: Permanent
Start Date: September 2020

We are an outstanding, thriving and over-subscribed two form entry CofE VA Primary School (NOR 430) looking for a passionate school leader who wants to lead our school into the next chapter of our story.

Our school is fortunate in many ways, with excellent facilities as well as enthusiastic and dedicated staff and an active supporting Governing Body.  We are offering our new Headteacher an exciting opportunity to partner with parents and the wider community to encourage and nurture every child to reach their full potential.

This is an excellent opportunity for an aspirational person who will be able to demonstrate that they have the leadership ability, teaching experience, and values to work with us all to build on our successes.

You will find that there is much that is good at our school, and still more that can be accomplished. We have achieved the highest recognition from Ofsted and the Diocese. Yet, we know we must constantly strive to improve and meet the ever growing challenges in education.

If, as a first-time or existing Head, you believe you offer the leadership which inspires and motivates others towards excellence and which will ensure the very best education for our children, then we would love to hear from you.

A requirement of the post is that applicants must be supportive of our Christian ethos.

We warmly welcome informal visits to the school so you can see for yourself the school in action, meet our highly motivated staff and pupils and be inspired by the opportunity this role offers.

Closing date: Tues 14 April at 12 Noon
Interviews: Tues 28 and Wed 29 April

We have appointed Emmaus Leadership as our recruitment advisors. For an initial informal chat (in complete confidence) and Application Pack please contact Liam Dowds, our Emmaus Advising Consultant, on 01737 652 043 or email him at ldowds@emmausleadership.me.

Our school is an equal opportunities employer and committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. DBS check required.

ALL APPLICANTS ARE ASKED TO REQUEST AN APPLICATION PACK BY EMAILING ldowds@emmausleadership.me AND NOT APPLY ONLINE.

"We considered TES Prime, but the critical factor for us was that Emmaus are not only specialists in recruiting Headteachers, they are Christians focused exclusively on recruiting for Church Schools."

Canon Bob Baker, Chair of Governors,The Bishop’s CE School - Thetford

"We are delighted with the appointment we made and I have reported to the whole community that we could not have been more thorough in the search or more rigorous in the selection process. Thank you Emmaus Leadership."

Jacqui Feely, Chair at All Hallows Catholic College, Macclesfield

"I have personal experience of the quality of service Emmaus provides, when I successfully applied for a Headship position through them. I always felt I could call up, get the ‘inside take’ on the school and ask any questions in complete confidence. The support and expert advice I received made the application process far less daunting and I would thoroughly recommend Emmaus to any Church School looking to appoint a key Leadership position."

Dan Pickard, Headteacher, The Bishop’s CE Primary School - Thetford

"Could we afford it? My belief, as Chair was that we couldn’t afford not to. Our pupils deserved and needed strong school leaders to be found and drawn to apply. Our success was down to using Emmaus and definitely money well spent."

Carry Lynott - Chair of Governors, Our Lady and St Brendan's Catholic Primary School, Bradford

"Thank you for all your support, advice and professionalism through out the long and complex process of our Head’s appointment. Having helped us appoint first time round it was unfortunate, due to personal circumstances, that our new Head had to subsequently withdraw post appointment. We were truly grateful for your service guarantee, which meant we incurred no further costs in appointing her replacement. Your unfailing support and advice at all times was greatly appreciated."

Nicholas van As, Chair of Personnel Committee - Coulsdon CE Primary School

"…we also considered other external recruiters, but Emmaus were clear favourites in terms of their recruitment expertise and in-depth knowledge and appreciation of the catholic school’s sector."

Peter Giorgio, Director of Education, Nottingham Diocese

"I want to thank everyone at Emmaus for your support in recruiting our new Headteacher. You ensured that we were able to ‘cast a wide net’ and have a number of high quality applications to shortlist from. It was a great outcome for us and one I do not think we would have achieved on our own. We will be sure to be in contact again."

Dave Cobb - School Business & Development Manager, Saint Cecilia's CE School, London

"Thank you for everything you did to successfully support our recruitment of an outstanding Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher. Using Emmaus Leadership to manage the recruitment to the post was much debated and was the subject of intense scrutiny by our Governing Body who were somewhat reluctant to use a leadership recruitment specialist. However, their confidence was reinstated as a result of your professional approach, your insightful knowledge and the resulting candidate pool produced for both appointments. I have no hesitation in recommending Emmaus to other schools."

Annie Sutton - Executive Principal, St Joseph's RC Specialist School and College

"We had been cold called by a few other companies but chose Emmaus as it specialised in Church schools. We were impressed by Liam and his team coming to the school and burrowing in to what the school wanted and needed. He asked searching questions and we were satisfied this was the way forward. I had not been a fan of head hunters before, but I have to say this process and its result was a hugely better experience than going out on our own and was totally professional throughout."

Bridget Prentice, Chair of Governors - Trinity School, Lewisham

"I have no hesitation in commending Emmaus to any school which is seeking to appoint a Christian Head. My only regret is that we did not go to them for the first round of interviews that proved unsuccessful. It is an expensive option, but in the long run they are more than value for money. I am very thankful to God for the ministry of Emmaus, and I warmly commend them to you. In OFSTED terms, they are outstanding."

The Rt Rev Keith Sinclair - Anglican Bishop of Birkenhead
