Salary: £Competitive + Relocation + School Fees support
Location: Witney, Oxford
Contract Type: Full Time
Contract Term: Permanent

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to lead a successful and growing Christian independent All Through School with an even brighter future.

The King’s School (TKS) is an independent Christian school managed within the Oxfordshire Community Churches Trust (OCC) catering to children of all abilities from Early Years to GCSEs.  TKS opened in 1984 and since then has had an extremely successful track record in achieving high academic standards whilst intentionally nurturing children in their Godly character and understanding of a biblical worldview in all subject areas.

TKS currently has 201 children on roll from nursery through to Year 11. Due to the increase in popularity and applications, Governors are currently in consultation with the Department of Education with a view to increasing the school’s NOR.

Governors are seeking a new Principal with the vision and ability to lead, manage and inspire our Christ-centred school community as a centre of pastoral and academic excellence for all.

You will be joining a vibrant and welcoming school - an exciting place to work with happy, friendly children from a culturally diverse range of backgrounds who are eager to learn; and well-motivated, compassionate staff who work hard to deliver a first-class education. The school is ably supported by dedicated Governors who are committed to bringing positivity and support as the school embarks on a new chapter on its journey.

If, as an existing Head, or indeed a Deputy or Head of Department (Primary or Secondary), looking for their first step into Headship - and from a background in either the Independent or State sector - you believe you offer the God-given leadership talents which inspires and motivates others towards excellence, then we would love to hear from you.

A requirement of the post is that applicants must be practising Christians.

Closing date: Monday 17 April at 12 Noon
Interviews: Monday 24 April (One Day)

We warmly encourage you to visit TKS to see the children and staff at work. We are confident that you will sense the palpable warmth, welcome and friendliness of the whole school community, for it is this that makes The King’s School such an exciting place to lead.

Our school is an equal opportunities employer and committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. DBS check required.

"I’m delighted with the way it went and the successful outcome (third SLT placement now!) helps confirm to Governors that your approach is right for these levels of appointment. It’s difficult to quantify the costs of recruiting and failing to get the right candidate ourselves - we’d only find out the true cost and also lost opportunities if we tried and failed. Altogether better to invest in getting it right first time, so thank you for all your hard work on this. The other side is the perception we leave with all candidates and I think we’ve worked together to do an excellent job (using your Assessment support). The communication, logistics and the care given I think is really important and Emmaus are a big part of that - you work as an extension of the school. I am fairly sure that all of the candidates will go away having had a great experience and that will help our reputation spread in a positive way."

Dave Cobb - School Business & Development Manager, Saint Cecilia's CE School, London

"…we also considered other external recruiters, but Emmaus were clear favourites in terms of their recruitment expertise and in-depth knowledge and appreciation of the catholic school’s sector."

Peter Giorgio, Director of Education, Nottingham Diocese

"We came across Emmaus by accident after our own attempts to recruit a Headteacher failed. We would not hesitate to engage them again to find a suitable candidate for a leadership position."

Michael Tennant - Chairman of the Board, St Edward's School

"We had been cold called by a few other companies but chose Emmaus as it specialised in Church schools. We were impressed by Liam and his team coming to the school and burrowing in to what the school wanted and needed. He asked searching questions and we were satisfied this was the way forward. I had not been a fan of head hunters before, but I have to say this process and its result was a hugely better experience than going out on our own and was totally professional throughout."

Bridget Prentice, Chair of Governors - Trinity School, Lewisham

"We tried going it alone to find a CEO for our MAT but had only 2 applicants who didn't meet our requirements. We approached Emmaus and from the start their professionalism was reassuring."

Barry Leyland, Chair - Blessed Edward Bamber Catholic Multi Academy Trust

"We considered TES, but the critical factor for us was that Emmaus are not only specialists in recruiting Headteachers, they are Christians focused exclusively on recruiting for Church Schools."

Canon Bob Baker, Chair of Governors,The Bishop’s CE School - Thetford

"Emmaus were instrumental in persuading me to apply for the post of Headteacher. I had seen the school advertising in the past but nothing inspired me to get in touch. Once Emmaus advertised I felt intrigued and keen to learn more about the school. I was supported throughout the whole process, which was a very personal and positive experience. I would highly recommend Emmaus to any school thinking of recruiting, and candidates considering registering. If my new school had not used Emmaus I probably wouldn’t have applied."

Hannah Walters, Headteacher, Platt CE Primary School - Kent

"I have no hesitation in commending Emmaus to any school that is seeking to appoint a Christian Headteacher. In particular, Emmaus’ ability to promote the school, assess the ethos of the school and communicate this within the networks of those who might be considered as possible candidates was invaluable."

Clive Purser, Chair of Governors, St Andrew's CE High School for Boys, Worthing

"I have no hesitation in commending Emmaus to any school which is seeking to appoint a Christian Head. My only regret is that we did not go to them for the first round of interviews that proved unsuccessful. It is an expensive option, but in the long run they are more than value for money. I am very thankful to God for the ministry of Emmaus, and I warmly commend them to you. In OFSTED terms, they are outstanding."

The Rt Rev Keith Sinclair - Anglican Bishop of Birkenhead

"I have personal experience of the quality of service Emmaus provides, when I successfully applied for a Headship position through them. I always felt I could call up, get the ‘inside take’ on the school and ask any questions in complete confidence. The support and expert advice I received made the application process far less daunting and I would thoroughly recommend Emmaus to any Church School looking to appoint a key Leadership position."

Dan Pickard, Headteacher, The Bishop’s CE Primary School - Thetford
