Vice Principal

Salary: £Competitive to attract the right applicant
Location: Huddersfield, West Yorks, HD2 2JT
Contract Type: Full Time
Contract Term: Permanent
Start Date: January 2020 or earlier

All Saints Catholic College is looking for a practising Catholic school leader ‘in the making’, a shining star who will flourish in the standalone role of Vice Principal.

All Saints is a successful 11 – 16 voluntary aided comprehensive school with around 780 students. The College is located in the town of Huddersfield, close to the Pennines, midway between Leeds and Manchester. The College has a climate of high expectations where students make good progress

in a diverse learning community - achieving a DfE Pupil Premium Regional Award in February 2015, being judged good by Ofsted in June 2017 and outstanding in our Section 48 Inspection in May 2018.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Assistant or Deputy Head (and practising Catholic) who can show evidence of impact across most areas of school leadership, most notably in in the categories as defined by the Ofsted Framework and in student outcomes.

The Principal, who joined the College in January 2018, is looking to appoint a standalone Vice Principal to complete her re-organised SLT team, working closely alongside her, as together, the SLT and whole school community seek to realise their full potential.

Specific responsibilities are not prescribed - both Governors and Principal simply wish to recruit the most able Catholic school leader, who comes equipped with proven leadership and management skills; who is approachable, empathetic and who will contribute to the Catholic Vision and strategic direction of the school.

Closing: Friday 14 June at 9am

Shortlisting: Monday 17 June

Interview Day: Tuesday 25 June

We would warmly encourage you to visit and see us at work.

"We came across Emmaus by accident after our own attempts to recruit a Headteacher failed. We would not hesitate to engage them again to find a suitable candidate for a leadership position."

Michael Tennant - Chairman of the Board, St Edward's School

"We are delighted with the appointment we made and I have reported to the whole community that we could not have been more thorough in the search or more rigorous in the selection process. Thank you Emmaus Leadership."

Jacqui Feely, Chair at All Hallows Catholic College, Macclesfield

"We tried going it alone to find a CEO for our MAT but had only 2 applicants who didn't meet our requirements. We approached Emmaus and from the start their professionalism was reassuring."

Barry Leyland, Chair - Blessed Edward Bamber Catholic Multi Academy Trust

"We had been cold called by a few other companies but chose Emmaus as it specialised in Church schools. We were impressed by Liam and his team coming to the school and burrowing in to what the school wanted and needed. He asked searching questions and we were satisfied this was the way forward. I had not been a fan of head hunters before, but I have to say this process and its result was a hugely better experience than going out on our own and was totally professional throughout."

Bridget Prentice, Chair of Governors - Trinity School, Lewisham

"Emmaus were instrumental in persuading me to apply for the post of Headteacher. I had seen the school advertising in the past but nothing inspired me to get in touch. Once Emmaus advertised I felt intrigued and keen to learn more about the school. I was supported throughout the whole process, which was a very personal and positive experience. I would highly recommend Emmaus to any school thinking of recruiting, and candidates considering registering. If my new school had not used Emmaus I probably wouldn’t have applied."

Hannah Walters, Headteacher, Platt CE Primary School - Kent

"I cannot imagine a better service to fulfil the requirement of helping a Catholic school find a Head. I was impressed with the number and high quality of candidates sourced by Emmaus Leadership."

Marjorie Bannister, Chair - St Michael's Catholic College, London

"Emmaus brings a level of professionalism, seen in other industry sectors, to church schools’ recruitment."

The Rt Rev Nick Baines - Anglican Bishop of Leeds

"…we also considered other external recruiters, but Emmaus were clear favourites in terms of their recruitment expertise and in-depth knowledge and appreciation of the catholic school’s sector."

Peter Giorgio, Director of Education, Nottingham Diocese

"We considered TES, but the critical factor for us was that Emmaus are not only specialists in recruiting Headteachers, they are Christians focused exclusively on recruiting for Church Schools."

Canon Bob Baker, Chair of Governors,The Bishop’s CE School - Thetford

"I have no hesitation in commending Emmaus to any school that is seeking to appoint a Christian Headteacher. In particular, Emmaus’ ability to promote the school, assess the ethos of the school and communicate this within the networks of those who might be considered as possible candidates was invaluable."

Clive Purser, Chair of Governors, St Andrew's CE High School for Boys, Worthing
