SUCCESSFULLY APPOINTED: Headteacher - Our Lady and St Brendan's Catholic Primary School - West Yorkshire

£Competitive to attract the right candidate - Catholic - Head/Principal
Ref: 88 Date Posted: Tuesday 11 Jan 2022

Headteacher

Salary: £Competitive to attract the right applicant
Location: Bank, Bradford,
Contract Type: Full Time
Contract Term: Permanent
Start Date: September 2019 or

We are a one-form entry catholic primary school with a big heart and lots of promise.

Our Lady and St Brendan’s Catholic Primary School is looking for a substantive Headteacher following the retirement of our previous Executive Headteacher at the end of the Autumn Term.

OLSB was graded RI by Ofsted in June 2017 but in the latest follow up section 8 inspection we were judged to be “taking effective action” to be good. This combined with a steady, upward trend in pupil progress offers our next Headteacher a wonderful opportunity to lead a school community already determined to be judged good at its next inspection.

You will be joining a vibrant and welcoming school - an exciting place to work with happy, friendly children from a range of backgrounds who are eager to learn; and well-motivated, compassionate staff.

If, as an existing Headteacher looking for their next challenge (or indeed a Deputy Head/exceptional Assistant Head looking for their first step into Headship) you believe you can offer the leadership which inspires others towards excellence and which will ensure the very best education for our children, then we would love to hear from you.

A requirement of the post is that applicants must be practising catholics.

You will be fully supported by committed and experienced Governors as well as an LA and diocesan team offering a bespoke package of coaching and mentoring to support your particular needs, as well as the practical and strategic support as an established member of the Bradford Catholic Schools Partnership Teaching Schools Alliance.

Closing date: Monday 1 April 2019 at 12 Noon

Shortlisting: Tuesday 2 April 2019

Interviews: Thursday 11 April 2019

How to Apply

In the first instance please contact Liam Dowds, our Emmaus Leadership Advising Consultant who is assisting us with this assignment, in absolute confidence, on 01737 652 043 or ldowds@emmausleadership.me.

Our school is an equal opportunities employer and committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. DBS check required.

"…we also considered other external recruiters, but Emmaus were clear favourites in terms of their recruitment expertise and in-depth knowledge and appreciation of the catholic school’s sector."

Peter Giorgio, Director of Education, Nottingham Diocese

"I have no hesitation in commending Emmaus to any school that is seeking to appoint a Christian Headteacher. In particular, Emmaus’ ability to promote the school, assess the ethos of the school and communicate this within the networks of those who might be considered as possible candidates was invaluable."

Clive Purser, Chair of Governors, St Andrew's CE High School for Boys, Worthing

"I have personal experience of the quality of service Emmaus provides, when I successfully applied for a Headship position through them. I always felt I could call up, get the ‘inside take’ on the school and ask any questions in complete confidence. The support and expert advice I received made the application process far less daunting and I would thoroughly recommend Emmaus to any Church School looking to appoint a key Leadership position."

Dan Pickard, Headteacher, The Bishop’s CE Primary School - Thetford

"We tried going it alone to find a CEO for our MAT but had only 2 applicants who didn't meet our requirements. We approached Emmaus and from the start their professionalism was reassuring."

Barry Leyland, Chair - Blessed Edward Bamber Catholic Multi Academy Trust

"Emmaus brings a level of professionalism, seen in other industry sectors, to church schools’ recruitment."

The Rt Rev Nick Baines - Anglican Bishop of Leeds

"Having previously struggled to recruit two Headteachers - for both a Primary and a Secondary school - Emmaus came to the rescue. Their expert advice and deep understanding of recruiting Headship positions in Catholic schools is invaluable, and I have no hesitation in recommending their knowhow and their values."

Fr David Gibbons, Chair of Governors & Parish Priest, Archdiocese of Southwark

"I cannot imagine a better service to fulfil the requirement of helping a Catholic school find a Head. I was impressed with the number and high quality of candidates sourced by Emmaus Leadership."

Marjorie Bannister, Chair - St Michael's Catholic College, London

"Thank you for everything you did to successfully support our recruitment of an outstanding Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher. Using Emmaus Leadership to manage the recruitment to the post was much debated and was the subject of intense scrutiny by our Governing Body who were somewhat reluctant to use a leadership recruitment specialist. However, their confidence was reinstated as a result of your professional approach, your insightful knowledge and the resulting candidate pool produced for both appointments. I have no hesitation in recommending Emmaus to other schools."

Annie Sutton - Executive Principal, St Joseph's RC Specialist School and College

"We came across Emmaus by accident after our own attempts to recruit a Headteacher failed. We would not hesitate to engage them again to find a suitable candidate for a leadership position."

Michael Tennant - Chairman of the Board, St Edward's School

"I have no hesitation in commending Emmaus to any school which is seeking to appoint a Christian Head. My only regret is that we did not go to them for the first round of interviews that proved unsuccessful. It is an expensive option, but in the long run they are more than value for money. I am very thankful to God for the ministry of Emmaus, and I warmly commend them to you. In OFSTED terms, they are outstanding."

The Rt Rev Keith Sinclair - Anglican Bishop of Birkenhead
